What size tires are those and did you have to do anything for them to fit?

4.00-19 front and 5.00-16 rear. Had to modify front fender to fit.

Thanks , did you have to run tubes in the tires? I have mags and am looking for a similar tire too.

Hi Tony, hope all is going well,
just want to start off by saying your builds have sparked my want to move from cars to bikes. That being said i have an 82 and a 79 xs400 (82 being in slightly better shape) just wondering which bike you would recommend i build first based on simplicity, parts accessibility and build threads i can learn from and reference as i go.

have a good day,

Zen.

I’m lookng for someone to build something like the BMW Scrambler oder “Die schärfste Gummikuh die es je gab” on Youtube, it’s has a 153 HP engine but I’d like it built on a 2018 BMW R nineT Urban GS.

hello , I just bought a 1980 Yamaha xs650 .
I did not know what to do till I found pictures of this amazing build
can u tell me where you got handle bar mirrors from

Thanks, I do not recall where I got those mirrors. That build was several years ago. We have some similar offering in our webstore with the MotoGadget Blade and CRG Arrow mirrors.

I have a 1980 xs650 with rear drum brake.
how did you make rear into a disk brake system
thanks

That rear brake is a stock set up. Not sure which models or years had drums or which had hydraulic set up but should be a direct swap if you find all the parts off the right bike to bolt up to your frame.

Hi you said you used 400×19 front tire. That tire requires a 2.15’’
Rim. But rim on xs650
Says it’s 1.85’’
Did the 400 x19 work

They will mount. It is a wide tire on a narrow rim so it depends on your intended purpose. If you are looking to carve canyons I would not recommend it or the that particular tire but yes it works.

I have a ‘76 xs650, can you tell me what wheels those are?

Those are stock XS650 wheels on most XS650’s.

How did you do the fenders. Did you chop the stock ones or fab new fenders

If I recall. Front was stock we cut shorter. Rear was something I had in house I cut up and welded mounts on to fit.

I just picked up a 79′ xs650. I’m struggling to find many options regarding tire tread patterns. So I’m wondering if I in fact have the sizes; front: 110/90-19 and rear: 130/90-16. Thanks in advance! Love the bike!

Not sure what the question is in the comment? You are asking if we know what size tires you have?

What brand tires are them?
Awesome build!

Thanks. I think they were Firestone ANS tires.
